Airlie Beach 2

These are the homes in Airlie Beach, right across from the beach!

Airlie Beach was one of our stops on the way down the east coast.

Airlie Beach at night.

The only water that's safe to swim in in Airlie Beach is the man made beach. Here is a list of all the marine creatures that can kill you if you swim in the ocean at Airlie. Scary! That blue container on the bottom right hand side of the side is a bottle of vinegar that you pour on someone if they get stung.

More of the reef. Unfortunately, a lot of the pics didn't turn out that well- it probably has something to do with the fact we used at $25 disposable camera. But anyway, it gives you somewhat of an idea of how cool it is. The fish were HUGE and would swim right up to you. We also got to hold a sea cucumber, which feels really slimy.

Here we are at Michaelma's Cay- it's a bird sanctuary. Off the island, you can swim/snorkel over the great Barrier Reef. Below are some pics of the reef. After leaving here, we hopped back on the boat, had lunch and headed to the outer reef, which is located on the ocean.

The Reef, the reef, the Great Barrier Reef!

So here we are swimming the in Coral Sea. After hopping on the boat in Cairns, we arrived at Michaelma's Cay a couple hours later. Then we jumped off the boat and swam to the island. Here we are heading to the island

Here is Dave underwater!

Here we are taking a break on the beach (boy, we have a rough life!)

My flipper
This pic is sooo pretty, we posted it twice-or, we made a mistake, WHATEVER!

After visiting Kuranda (there were tons of markets) we took a train back down the mountain. Choooo Chooooooo.

They let us off the train a couple of times to get a closer look.....

Back on the gondala...heading up to the third and final spot- the rainforest village, Kuranda,

Approaching the second stop.

Here we are at the second stop.

The beautiful gorge.
